Our idea is simple and two-fold: to provide the best design and development skills to clients who need experienced architects, designers and developers for their own projects; and secondly to develop a series of tools that make the development and implementation of client solutions easier.
What we provide is the experience of taking a project from inception through prototype, design, release, and support. We can either develop products for clients in-house or off-site, or working as part of the clients development team itself. It all depends on what the client wants.
Open Source, Open Trust
Most of us here at Riomhaire Research have been using open source for almost two decades now. Our CEO for example has been using Linux since 1992 and swears by it. We recommend Open Source for a lot of corporate environments for many reasons:
- Much of the worlds BEST software is open-source: the apache webserver powers most of the web, as do opensource mail-servers, and the tomcat JAVA application server are some examples.
- Good professional support is available from many sources. There is no “lock in” and “excessive license” fees found elsewhere.
- Costs (installation, support, maintenance) are significantly lower.
- If there is a problem with a core piece of software you can fix it and pass the fix back to the wider community - this INCREASES not only your visibility within the business environment, it makes you a resposible business citizen.
- Having the source code available means that there are no “hidden” agenda’s.
